WINTER 2013
The first group show of 2013 – ‘Hungry Ghosts: Age of Consumerism’ – was very well attended, with viewers keenly interested in and enthusiastic about this unique style of show. With a general overall theme, artists were able to provide their own personal interpretation of the subject and meld it into their specialized style of art.
Show Timeline: January 8 – 20
Ferry Building Gallery, 1414 Argyle Ave, West Vancouver
I look forward to seeing you there. Happy New Year to all! - Dale
AUTUMN 2012
Once again, this year’s Vernissage Photography Exhibition and Sale was a great success with everyone thoroughly enjoying canapés expertly prepared by the staff of Northwest Culinary Academy, a wealth of information and collection of photographic art styles, and a day/evening of inspiring conversation.
For those unable to join us on November 17, I hope to see you next year at this unique opportunity for photographic artists and audience.
SUMMER 2012
I was honoured to be invited to participate in the art exhibition ‘100 Years/100 Artists‘ held at the Ferry Building Gallery, June 2012, in celebration of West Vancouver’s Centennial. This art piece was to be presented on canvas, which meant I had to slightly adjust my method of combining photography and acrylic on fine art paper. The resulting ‘Driftwood’ received much attention and it has been suggested that I produce additional works on canvas. So now I have a choice with future endeavours.
SOLO SHOW 2012
My Solo Photoart Show ‘This Is China’ was held March 1 – 31, 2012 at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden in Vancouver’s Chinatown. National Geographic recently rated this classical Chinese garden Number One for international city gardens.
Two parts of my Story of China collection, ‘Circling Time’ and ‘Portals and Passages’, were combined to complement the Garden design based on four main elements: rock, water, plants and architecture.
The show was very successful, thanks to all local and international visitors who attended my exhibition held in the Hall of One Hundred Rivers.
AUTUMN 2011
In November, I participated in Vernissage 2011, a gala and exhibition showcasing the work of Vancouver photographers. It provided a wonderful opportunity to present my new Birches collection. This event was very well received and attendees not only enjoyed the exhibition/sale but also the creative gourmet delicacies provided by Northwest Culinary Academy.
SUMMER 2011
Four photoart pieces from my Circling Time: Story of China collection were juried into two group art shows during Summer 2011:
1) The Artists’ Salon group show was held June 21 – July 3 at the Ferry Building Gallery, Ambleside,West Vancouver
2) The Harmony Arts Festival group show, celebrating art & community in West Vancouver, was held July 29 – August 7
Both shows were bustling with enthusiastic viewers and buyers, providing positive feedback for my technique and photoart.
SPRING 2011
Early Spring 2011, Dale’s photoart was selected by local design consultants to be installed in a model home, promoting new single-family dwellings in the Vancouver area.
These images demonstrate a variety of ways my photoart can enhance your décor – as a focal point or to complement selected colours, tones, and styles.
Toned black and white photography, combined with subtle layers of hand painting, provides calmness from a distance and intrigue with the close-up details.
Printed on fine art paper, the results are displayed with silver metal frames, while one has been custom framed at the client’s request.
